    JUNE 11--The 1394 Trade Association (www.1394ta.org) will hold its third-quarter general meeting in Montreal, Canada, July 10-12, at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, sponsored by Mindready Solutions Inc.   • Near-term uncertainty about end-market chip demand in 2002 keeps SEMIndex down
    JUNE 10--Despite improved global chip-equipment bookings the past quarter, the US SEMIndex, a market-weighted equity index of 48 US-based manufacturers of semiconductor equipment and materials, was down 2.82%, moving from 182.30 to 177.16, according to Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI; San Jose, CA).
  • Growth in chip sales slow in Europe
    JUNE 7-- According to the European Electronic Component Manufacturers Association (EECA; Brussels, Belgium; www.eeca.org), growth in chip sales in Europe slowed in April after the 7.6% rise from February to March.
  • April chip sales reach $11.07 billion for worldwide semiconductor industry
    MAY 31--Worldwide sales of semiconductors totaled $11.07 billion in April, a 3.1% increase from the $10.73 billion level reached in March, with all four geographic regions reporting growth for the second month in a row.
  • IPC releases statistics for April 2002
    MAY 31--IPC-Association Connecting Electronics Industries (Northbrook, IL) statistics show that the US printed-circuit-board industry book-to-bill ratio for April 2002 was 0.94. Sales billed (shipments) in April 2002 decreased 31.5% from April 2001, and orders booked decreased 10.9% from April 2001.
  • Mixed signals push US and global SEMIndexes down
    MAY 29--Mixed industry indicators turned back the previous weeks' gains on the US SEMIndex, a market-weighted equity index of 48 US-based manufacturers of semiconductor equipment and materials.
