• The Mathworks to host image-processing seminars
  AUGUST 19--The MathWorks has announced its upcoming series of Advanced Image Processing Seminars located across the country for professionals performing image-processing and analysis.
• Third annual Thermographers' Conference scheduled for September
  AUGUST 9--InfraMation 2002, the thermography conference for anyone involved in infrared inspections, plant predictive maintenance, thermal research and development, on-line process monitoring and control, or nondestructive testing, will be held at the Wyndham Orlando Resort from Sept. 29 to Oct. 2, 2002.
• Embedding Xilinx FPGA technology into IBM ASICs to offer designers flexibility
  JULY 19--IBM (East Fishkill, NY; www.ibm.com/chips) and Xilinx Inc. (San Jose, CA; www.xilinx.com) have signed an agreement that could help custom chip designers shave hundreds of thousands of dollars off the cost of creating future chips.
• Berkoff and Metakides to open Eurodisplay 2002
  JULY 12--Eurodisplay, the triennial technical conference and exhibition devoted to research and technology in electronic information displays, will be held this year October 1-4 at the Acropolis Convention Center in Nice, France (www.webxy.com/eurodisplay2002).
• nPoint introduces motion controller and positioning lines
  JUNE 19--nPoint Inc. (Middleton, WI) has announced a new, advanced motion-controller and positioning technology that is said to set a new standard in the emerging nanopositioning and measuring arena.
• Pittsburgh region positioning for robotics and national defense initiatives
  JUNE 14--The Pittsburgh Regional Alliance has announced the formation of the National Center for Defense Robotics to accelerate the region's efforts to commercialize mobile robotics technologies for the rapidly developing military and homeland defense markets.
• Basler introduces a megapixel area-scan camera with Camera Link interface
  JUNE 12--Basler Vision Components (Basler-VC; Ahrensburg, Germany; www.basler-vc.com) has introduced an addition to its A100 camera series--the A102k--a 14.8-frame/s, 1392 x 1040, progressive-scan CCD camera with 6.45 x 6.45-μm pixels and a Camera Link interface.
• IBM nanotechnology creates 1-Tbit memory
  JUNE 12--IBM Corp. (Zurich, Switzerland) has developed a prototype terabit memory that stores a trillion bits of data, or 20 times more than a current disk drive, in a square inch.
• E Ink thin active-matrix technology promises displays for ultraportable devices
  JUNE 6--E Ink Corp. (Cambridge, MA; www.eink.com), developer and marketer of electronic ink technology for paper-like displays, has demonstrated very-thin active-matrix displays.
• USB On-The-Go Working Group announces first successful interoperability testing of USB On-The-Go controllers
  JUNE 4--At the official USB-IF Compliance Workshop in May, the USB On-The-Go Working Group successfully completed interoperability and preliminary compliance tests.
