• DVT extends vision into robotics
  JUNE 6--DVT Corp. (Duluth, GA; www.dvtsensors.com) has announced an agreement with Yamaha Robotics (Edgemont, PA; www.yamaharobotics.com/) to private label its Legend line of vision products for integration into Yamaha's family of industrial robots.
• Sensors Unlimited to develop combined imaging/rangefinding camera
  JUNE 5--Sensors Unlimited Inc. (Princeton, NJ; www.sensorsinc.com) has received a US Air Force contract to develop a high-frame-rate, high-bandwidth, low-noise, focal-plane array and camera for active tracking, wavefront sensing, laser ranging, imaging, and scoring.
• Cognex withdraws lawsuit against Matrox
  JUNE 5--Matrox Imaging (Dorval, Quebec, Canada; www.matrox.com/imaging), a division of Matrox Electronic Systems Ltd., announced that the civil action filed by Cognex Corporation against the Geometric Model Finder and other components of the Matrox Imaging Library software package has been dismissed by agreement of the parties.
• Sharp to start production of system LCDs at its Mie plant
  JUNE 3--Sharp Corporation (Camas, WA; sharp-world.com/index.html) will start production of "System LCDs" at its Mie Plant No. 3, beginning in June 2003.
• LINOS expands sales network into France
  May 29--LINOS AG (Gottingen, Germany; www.linos.com), a supplier of optical systems, is expanding its sales network into France. Its new sales subsidiary, LINOS Photonics SARL, is located in Lyons, France, with Carsten Gohlke as managing director.
• InVision Technologies invests in SafeView for passenger screening
  MAY 29--InVision Technologies Inc. (Newark, CA, USA; www.invision-tech.com) has made a strategic equity investment in SafeView Inc. (Menlo Park, CA, USA; www.safe-view.com). The investment will be used to commercialize an advanced portal system that uses millimeter-wave holographic technology to screen passengers for weapons, explosives, and contraband material.
• DALSA receives $1 million semiconductor order
  MAY 29--DALSA Corp. (Waterloo, ON, Canada; www.dalsa.com) reports that its semiconductor wafer foundry in Bromont, Quebec, has received a $1,000,000 order to manufacture ASICs (application-specific integrated circuits) for the industrial marketplace.
• Media Cybernetics acquires DataCell scientific image-analysis assets
  MAY 29--Media Cybernetics Inc. (Silver Spring, MD, USA; www.mediacy.com), an analytical imaging software provider, has acquired the scientific image-analysis assets of DataCell Ltd. (Finchampstead, Berkshire, UK; www.datacell.co.uk), an exclusive Media Cybernetics value-added reseller of image-acquisition hardware, related software, and imaging systems in the United Kingdom.
• IMT to market Redlake MASD cameras
  May 28--Image Management Technologies Ltd. (IMT; Hampshire, UK; www.i-m-t.co.uk) has been chosen by Redlake MASD Inc. (San Diego, CA, USA; www.redlake.com) to market the Megaplus range of cameras in the United Kingdom and Irish markets.
• PPT VISION Inc. reports second-quarter financial results
  MAY 23--PPT VISION Inc. (Minneapolis, MN; www.pptvision.com) has announced financial results for its fiscal second quarter, ended April 30, 2003, and reported that a corporate restructuring has been implemented in an effort to reduce the company's operating cost structure.
