• BittWare adds international distributor

• Cognex surface-inspection systems chosen by stainless-steel producer
  AUGUST 11--AvestaPolarit, a global producer of stainless steel and a business unit of Finland-based Outokumpu Steel, has purchased two Cognex Corp. (Natick, MA; www.cognex.com) SmartView metals surface-inspection systems for installation at its Meadowhall facility in Sheffield, England.
• Viisage and Firstec form business alliance
  AUGUST 11--Viisage Technology Inc. (Littleton, MA; www.viisage.com), a provider of identity-verification platforms, has formed a business alliance with Firstec, a Korean provider of facial-recognition technology.
