• UKIVA celebrates 10th anniversary of IPOT and Machine Vision exhibitions
  DECEMBER 16--The UK Industrial Vision Association (UKIVA) will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the IPOT and Machine Vision exhibitions in February 2004 by hosting two days of free seminars.
• Applications to be showcased at the Texas Instruments 2004 Developer Conference
  DECEMBER 11--Texas Instruments Incorporated (Houston, TX) has announced the Texas Instruments Developer Conference, designed specifically for new and experienced designers, engineers, developers, project managers, and educators.
• European LCD-monitor penetration rate slows again
  DECEMBER 2--LCD panel shortages, component shortages, and ultimately monitor shortages and price rises were themes that dominated the European market in Q3 2003, according to Meko, a specialist market-research consultancy and publisher providing advice and data for the European displays market (www.meko.co.uk).
• New chairman for UKIVA
  DECEMBER 2--Mark Williamson, director of Firstsight Vision, a vision-components supplier in the UK, was recently elected new chairman of the UK Industrial Vision Association (UKIVA).
• IPC releases IMS/PCB book-to-bill ratio and business report
  NOVEMBER 25--IPC-Association Connecting Electronics Industries (Northbrook, IL; www.ipc.org) has announced the findings from its monthly Interconnect Manufacturing Services (IMS)/Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Statistical Program.
• VISION confirms its claim to be the world's leading trade fair for machine vision
  NOVEMBER 25--VISION 2003 attained its target by attracting 4412 visitors.
• Forecast for DSP chips increased
  NOVEMBER 11--For the first time in two years, Forward Concepts (Tempe, AZ; www.forwardconcepts.com) is raising its forecast of the worldwide general-purpose digital-signal-processor (DSP) chip market.
• In-Stat/MDR sticks with original semiconductor-market forecast for 2003
  NOVEMBER 11--First presented in October of 2002 at the In-Stat/MDR Microprocessor Forum, the In-Stat/MDR (Scottsdale, AZ) global semiconductor forecast will remain at 16.7% growth for 2003.
• Six additions to UKIVA membership list
  OCTOBER 30--Six companies have recently joined the UK Industrial Vision Association (UKIVA).
• Camera phones, digital still cameras push image-sensor market to new heights
  SEPTEMBER 29--The image-sensor market has seen continued growth over the past year, marking a bright spot in the beleaguered semiconductor sector, reports In-Stat/MDR (Scottsdale, AZ; www.instat.com).
