• ABB Japan orders additional Braintech software
  DECEMBER 20--Braintech (Vancouver, BC, Canada; www.braintech.com), a provider of vision-guided robotic software and solutions, has received two additional orders for eVisionFactory solutions from strategic partner ABB for a Japanese automaker.
• Exacq Technologies introduces new products
  DECEMBER 15--Exacq Technologies (Indianapolis, IN) has introduced a new generation of MPEG-4 CCTV DVR boards designed to create higher-performance, lower-cost, and smaller footprint CCTV DVRs.
• Trevor Jones elected 2006 president of the RIA
  DECEMBER 15--Trevor Jones, director of OEM business development of the Thermo Electron Corporation (Burlington, ON, Canada) Laboratory Automation and Integration Business, has been selected as the new president of the Robotic Industries Association (RIA; Ann Arbor, MI).
• KUKA partners with SEIS to expand in western USA

• DualVision remote monitoring system enhances fire detection and security
  DECEMBER 13--A remote, historic copper-mining center on UNESCO's list of priceless world historical sites has implemented remote monitoring technology, the Mikron Infrared DualVision system, for 24-hour surveillance and early detection of fire in 17th century wooden buildings.
• Cypress launches flexible manufacturing strategy
  DECEMBER 13--Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (San Jose, CA) and Grace Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (Shanghai, China) have entered into a strategic foundry partnership.
• Stemmer announces deals with Pleora, Cognex
  DECEMBER 8-- Pleora Technologies and Stemmer Imaging have agreed to cooperate on GigE connectivity solutions for industrial vision systems. In addition, machine-vision supplier Cognex and the Stemmer Imaging Group have signed a new sales partnership.
• UKIVA offers machine-vision seminars during IPOT
  DECEMBER 7--Trident Exhibitions has announced a two-day program for free UK Industrial Vision Association (UKIVA) seminars being held within the Machine Vision, IPOT-Imaging Photonics and Optical Technology and Displays Technology exhibitions at the NEC, Birmingham, UK, 15--16 February 2006.
