  JANUARY 16--Sherwood Technology (Widnes, Cheshire, UK) is changing its name to DataLase, effective immediately.
• Elbit Vision Systems and its subsidiary to acquire Panoptes
  JANUARY 13--Elbit Vision Systems (Yoqneam, Israel) announced that together with its wholly owned subsidiary, ScanMaster Systems, it has executed an agreement to acquire the business, assets and shares of Panoptes (www.panoptes.co.il).
• Toshiba Teli launches new Web site
  JANUARY 13--Toshiba Teli America (Irvine, CA) has launched its new official Web site at www.toshiba-teli.com.
• Redshift secures $12 million first-round funding
  JANUARY 12--RedShift Systems Corp. (Waltham, MA; www.redshiftsystems.com), a manufacturer of cost-effective thermal-imaging systems, closed $12 million in first-round funding in December.

  JANUARY 11--Dalsa Corporation has received contracts totaling CDN $1.3 million from Next Instrument, a Korean supplier of flat-panel display (FPD) inspection equipment
• Goodrich awarded R&D contract to develop visible, IR detector array
  JANUARY 9--Goodrich Corporation (Charlotte, NC; www.goodrich.com) has been awarded a contract by the US Army RDECOM CERDEC Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate to design, develop, and deliver an indium gallium arsenide detector array for use in high-definition short-wavelength infrared night-vision cameras.

• Janos Technology appoints new president

• Hitachi Denshi to introduce five new cameras
