• IPC releases book-to-bill ratios for September 2006
  OCTOBER 27--IPC--Association Connecting Electronics Industries (Bannockburn, IL, USA; www.ipc.org), a global trade association of 2400 member companies representing all facets of the electronic interconnection industry, including design, printed-circuit-board manufacturing, and electronics assembly, has announced its findings from its monthly Printed Circuit Board Statistical Program.
• New Motion Control Association launched
  OCTOBER 11--Executives from several motion control companies have launched a new trade association to serve the interests of motors, drives, and controls companies known as the Motion Control Association (Ann Arbor, MI, USA).
• Touch screens dominating market for industrial input devices
  OCTOBER 6--Touch screens led the way in shipments of operator interface terminals to North America in 2005, according to a recent market report by Venture Development Corporation (VDC; Natick, MA; USA; www.vdc-corp.com).

• Report says PCB production expands and shifts globally
  AUGUST 28--IPC-Association Connecting Electronics Industries (Bannockburn, IL, USA; www.ipc.org) has issued its World PCB Production and Laminate Report for 2005, which presents estimates of printed-circuit-board (PCB) production and the laminate market by country and product type worldwide.

• XMC mezzanines poised to penetrate the COTS military market
  AUGUST 23--According to a report by Venture Development Corporation (Natick, MA, USA; www.vdc-corp.com), XMC form factor mezzanine cards are projected to begin making an impact on the embedded COTS military market in 2007.
• UKIVA expands activities
  AUGUST 7--The UK Industrial Vision Association (UKIVA; Royston, UK;www.ukiva.org) is expanding its scope of activity to actively encourage companies involved in scientific imaging applications to become members.
