Edmund Optics’ new hire bolsters machine vision expertise

Edmund Optics has announced the hire of Nitin Sampat as Senior Vision Solutions Engineer, Imaging Business Unit, in a move that bolsters the company’s machine vision expertise.
 

Edmund Optics has announced the hire of Nitin Sampat as Senior Vision Solutions Engineer, Imaging Business Unit, in a move that bolsters the company’s machine vision expertise.

Sampat joins Edmund Optics with more than 25 years of experience designing and developing industrial imaging and machine vision systems. In his new role, will be responsible for selling and supporting Edmund Optics’ standard and custom imaging and machine vision products.

"Nitin brings years of technical expertise and a commitment to customer success to his new position," said Gregory Hollows, Vice President, Imaging Business Unit, Edmund Optics. "Because Nitin has an in-depth understanding of clients' needs, he can provide our customers with the answers and innovative solutions they need to successfully deploy their projects on-time and within budget."

Sampat founded an annual conference on Photography, Mobile, and Immersive Imaging (formerly "The Digital Photography conference") which he also chairs. This conference is one of the 23+ sub-conferences in SPIE/IS&T's Electronic Imaging Symposium that brings together more than 1,000 scientists and engineers from around the globe. For many years, Sampat has been the Symposium Chair and has served on the symposium's steering committee, according to Edmund Optics.

Previously, Sampat was a professor at the School of Photographic Arts and Sciences at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY, USA, where he taught and conducted research in the areas of color science, image processing, imaging quality, and photography. He has previously worked at the Laboratory for Laser Energetics, Questra Corporation, and Hewlett Packard Research Labs. Additionally, he has consulted at companies around the globe, helping them design better imaging products.

Sampat is also one of the founders of Coloryoke, Inc., a company offering color matching solutions to the art reproduction market. He will be based in Edmund Optics’ Cupertino, CA, USA office.
