Microwave imager/sounder contract awarded

Hughes Space and Communications Co. (Los Angeles, CA) has received a three-year, $32-million contract to develop a new instrument called the conical scanning microwave imager/sounder. The instrument will be used in the National Polar-Orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System, which is scheduled for first launch in 2007.
