In December 2010, robotics and automation systems provider AV&R Vision & Robotics Inc. (Montreal, QC, Canada) won contracts worth more than US$1.5 million dollars from two European companies in the jet engine industry. Under the contracts, AV&R will install surface inspection systems in Germany and England.
AV&R specializes in gas turbine manufacturing equipment in the fields of robotic material removal and automated surface inspection.
The factory automation equipment provided by AV&R will inspect 100% of the surface of fan, compressor, and turbine blades, looking for any random surface defects such as nicks, dents, scratches, tooling marks, and more. System flexibility is achieved using vision-guided robotics.
