NEW PRODUCT PRESS RELEASE

Versatile Teledyne DALSA Genie TS Cameras now available in Color

Color imaging enables vision applications in industries such as traffic and pharmaceutical

WATERLOO, Ontario - Teledyne DALSA, a Teledyne Technologies company and a global leader in machine vision technology, has expanded its Genie TS camera series with the addition of three new color models. The Genie TS uses Teledyne DALSA's advanced CMOS imaging sensor technology to deliver the widest, most powerful feature set ever in a GigE Vision camera.

The Genie TS color cameras include 5M, 8M and 12M models and reach speeds up to 29 fps. The perfect blend of form and function, the Genie TS is engineered to meet the ever increasing speed and image clarity requirements of machine vision. All features are easily accessible with Teledyne DALSA's advanced software tools or GigE Vision compliant third party software.

Benefits of Color Machine Vision

As costs decrease and processing power ceases to be an issue, incorporating color into machine vision systems can yield greater quality as color becomes another decision factor in the inspection process. Color provides important information beyond grayscale imaging and adds a new dimension for analyzing data. Industries such as food processing, automotive, print, pharmaceutical, part presence and/or detection, PCB assembly, Intelligent Traffic/Transportation Systems (ITS) applications, and many quality and grading applications can benefit from color machine vision inspection.

"With the addition of color imaging to our Genie TS cameras, new opportunities emerge for applications requiring more clarity and further distinction," stated Manny Romero, Genie Product Manager at Teledyne DALSA. "We anticipate that by updating their systems with our new color Genie TS cameras, OEMs will benefit from accelerated application development, simplified deployment, and optimized system management and maintenance."

GigE Vision
Like all Genie cameras, the Genie TS Series is GigE Vision-compliant, based on the AIA (Automated Imaging Association) GigE Vision Standard. This new series of Genie cameras takes full advantage of Gigabit Ethernet technology, transmitting data over standard CAT-5e and CAT-6 cables to distances of up to 100m allowing for a greater distance between the camera and inspection system. Teledyne DALSA continues to lead the deployment of the GigE Vision standard in terms of adopting the technology into its product development efforts.

Software Advantage
The GenieTS cameras are supported by Teledyne DALSA's Sapera Essential software and its Genie Framework package for fast and simple camera set-up - from initial set-up to grabbing images in minutes. Moreover, the Genie Framework employs Teledyne DALSA's advanced Trigger-to-Image Reliability engineering, significantly accelerating application development and deployment time by providing developers with a 360º view of the entire acquisition process.
