Oxford Instruments has announced the acquisition of Andor Technology in a strategic move that will allow Andor to spearhead the company’s expansion into more nano-bio applications.

Oxford Instruments has announced the acquisition of Andor Technology in a strategic move that will allow Andor to spearhead the company’s expansion into more nano-bio applications.

As an Oxford Instruments company, Andor will continue to develop and manufacture cameras, microscope systems, and software for the physical sciences and life science industries. Some recent applications that used Andor cameras include:

Andor will also help Oxford Instruments move and grow into markets in which Andor already has expertise.

"We want to be part of a future which sees the use of nanotechnology tools in the biological arena, for both analysis and eventually fabrication of bio materials," said Jonathan Flint, Chief Executive of Oxford Instruments in a press release. "Andor brings extensive knowledge of this market, a range of innovative products and a strong brand that will accelerate our expansion into this new market for Oxford Instruments."

In addition, the move represents increased investment in research and development applications for Andor, which may allow the expansion of its product range and the opportunity to broaden its reach into new markets and applications.
