STMicrolectronics Launches New Time-Of-Flight Sensor

Jan. 9, 2024
Sensor designed for robotics, metrology, and other machine vision applications

STMicroelectronics recently launched its latest generation 8 x 8 time-of-flight ranging sensor, the VL53L8CX. The new sensor features two metasurface lenses, a 940 nm vertical cavity surface emitting laser, multizone single-photon avalanche diode array, and optical system with filters and diffractive optical elements. The sensor projects a 45° x 45° square FOV with up to 65° FOV, a range up to 400 cm, and a frame rate of up to 60Hz. It supports SPI and I²C interfaces. The sensor is designed for a wide variety of machine  vision functions, including robotics, sorting, and other industrial applications.
