Nashua, NH (August 9, 2016) —PennWell Corporation, a global business-to-business media and information company, has named John Lewis Editor-in-Chief of Vision Systems Design after Andy Wilson, who for more than 30 years has been an industry authority and advocate, has announced that he is moving on from PennWell.
Taking over the role of Editor-in-Chief will beJohn Lewis, who has technical, industry, and journalistic qualifications, most recently with more than 13 years of progressive content development experience working at Cognex Corporation. Prior to Cognex where his articles on machine vision were published in dozens of trade journals, Lewis was a technical editor for Design News, the world's leading engineering magazine, covering automation, machine vision, and other engineering topics since 1996.

In 1982, Wilson was instrumental in launching Electronic Imaging magazine, a publication later purchased by PennWell Corporation. Then in 1996, Wilson helped found Vision Systems Design magazine, and since then, has written thousands of articles on image processing, machine vision, and computer science."I'm pleased that a person with industry knowledge and journalistic experience has been appointed Editor in Chief," said Andrew Wilson. In 2013, Wilson was the first and only journalist to have received the Automated Imaging Association (AIA) Achievement Award, which has been given out since 1991 and honors one industry leader for outstanding contributions in promoting market acceptance of industrial and/or scientific imaging. Jeff Burnstein, AIA President, noted at the time that Andy has been a long-time advocate for the vision and imaging industry, and that he has been "instrumental in introducing vision and imaging technologies to a broad range of industries throughout the world."

Wilson graduated from Warwick University in England, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree, while Lewis earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.
