What’s new at your company at your company?
With the advantages of Advantech devices and solutions—industrial PCs,industrial automationand machine automation technologies, hardware-software integration and various other solutions—it’s now possible to foster the development of Industry 4.0.
To realize Industry 4.0, Advantech has initiated three strategic phases. In the first phase of the implementation of equipment connectivity: devices, machines, production lines and factories are connected to the system, and therefore, data transparency as well as information visualization can be fulfilled. In the second phase, data collection and integration, as well as valued-added products and services are introduced for smart manufacturing services. The final phase of intelligent innovative services is the enabling of intelligent machinery and big data analysis.
To reach these goals, Advantech enables network-connected iFactories and iMachinery to boost the transformation of smart manufacturing. Furthermore, six solutions of smart factory have been defined – Machine Automation; Equipment Monitoring & Optimization; Machine Monitoring & Predictive Maintenance; MES Integration & Production Traceability; Factory Energy Management System; and Factory Environment Monitoring – developed with integrated automation and cloud innovation for industry 4.0!
What is your latest vision product and for what reason was it developed?
AIIS-1200 Palm Size Vision System for machine vision inspection applications such as quality check and identification.
Is there anything about it that you would say sets it apart from the competition?
Ultra compact design, support isolated digital I/O, and both GigE (Power Over Ethernet) and USB 3.0 interface for GigE and USB cameras
What else is new with the company, anything exciting?
IoT edge-to-cloud PaaS solution ready platform to enable machine learning on machine vision systems. Launched machine vision inspection software
In which areas or applications do you see the most growth?
Test and inspections (vision inspection), robotics, and edge computing
Are market changes affecting your product development, and if so, how?
Yes, indeed. Need to constantly make necessary adjustments here and there in order to meet market demand while staying focus on penetrating the vertical market/applications
Is there a particular trend or product in the next few years that you see as “the next big thing?”
Edge computing and artificial intelligence to empower machine intelligence where machine can communicate to other machine as well as perform self-learning and improving to create new values to make huge business impact.
Do you have any new exciting products or developments on the horizon?
Edge Intelligence Server with Microsoft Azure and AWS Greenpass.
