From 1976 to the present: Matrox’s broad product portfolio.

Matrox, and its Matrox Imaging and Matrox Video divisions, celebrate in 2021 the company’s 45th anniversary.

Founded in 1976, Matrox began in the end-user consumer market and later expanded into specialized professional markets such as digital signage, media and broadcast, enterprise communications, manufacturing, medical imaging, and factory automation. This year, the company has released IoT edge devices, new software tools, and next-generation encoders, and continues to champion remote production and open standards in the AV-over-IP realm.

In 2019, owner Lorne M. Trottier oversaw a corporate recommitment to its employees and average employee lifespan at Matrox is more than 12 years.

“Our mission is the same now as it was back in 1976: building exceptional products that solve real-world problems and creating technology that empowers customers to reach their goals,” says Trottier. “I raise a glass to the people and minds that have helped steer Matrox to its current position, as we look to another 45 years of ambitious ideas.”
