Vision HDL Toolbox update from MathWorks improves video processing on FPGAs

Feb. 26, 2020
Release 2019b assists engineers with demanding throughout, resource usage, and power consumption targets.

The Vision HDL Toolbox from MathWorks with Release 2019b now includes native multipixel streaming support to process high-frame rate and high-resolution videos on FPGAs. The release makes possible increased processing speeds for 4k or 8k video running at resolutions of 240 fps or higher by processing 4 or 8 pixels in parallel, while automatically updating underlying hardware implementation to support the specified parallelism.

Release 2019b is aimed at engineers designing FPGAs for real-time processing of high-resolution and high frame rate video for applications such as industrial inspection, medical imaging, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance who must hit throughput, resource usage, and power consumption targets.
