• Mipsology and OKI IDS announce partnership for machine learning hardware design

Machine learning inference acceleration on FPGAs can compete with GPUs for processing artificial intelligence applications.
    Nov. 17, 2020

Machine learning software developed Mipsology and the OKI IDS design and development company have signed an agreement to develop hardware solutions for the Japanese high-speed image processing artificial intelligence (AI) market. The partnership will leverage Mipsology’s Zebra machine learning inference accelerator and OKI IDS’s expertise in FPGA design.

The agreement was signed on October 20. According to the companies, Zebra-enabled FPGAs can compute machine learning data more efficiently that GPUs and with comparatively longer lifespans, lower power consumption, and reduced cost of ownership.
