Herng-Jeng Jou`s ([email protected]. edu) well-researched page of Linux software packages has a special section devoted to signal, communication, data, and image processing. On it, he provides links and information about a number of free and commercially available image-processing packages. Among them are Khoros, an integrated software-development environment; Karma, a package for signal and image processing; IRAF, general-purpose software for the reduction and analysis of scientific data; Triton, an interactive program for numerical image processing based on Fourier filtering and wavelet analysis; GRASS, an integrated set of programs for digitizing, image processing, map production; and SANTIS, a software tool for the analysis of signals and time-series data.
