As an automatic, portable, spectroradiometer, LightSpex is used in applications to measure, characterize, and qualify sources of optical radiation. Used in laboratory applications including discrete LED and miniature lamp testing, medical x-ray viewing lamp certification, and high-speed spectral analysis, LightSpex measures the visible spectrum of light incident upon a unit and calculates, displays, and plots a variety of radiometric quantities, including illuminance and correlated color temperature. Conforming to ASTM, DCC, ANSI, and ISO standards and procedures, the device uses menu-driven prompts to guide the operator and a graphical display for measurement and interpretation of results. Measurements stored in LightSpex can be downloaded through its integral RS-232 serial port into LightSoft Windows 95/NT-based software. LightSoft 2.0 and LightSoft Plus Windows 95/NT programs facilitate the display and reporting of measured and calculated data. LightSoft allows users to produce reports and certifications incorporating graphs of wavelength vs. intensity, CIE chromaticity, CIELAB, and CIELUV. LightSoft software can control LightSpex and download data directly from the unit for processing or for output to a variety of formats. Features include spectral range from 360 to 750 nm, wavelength resolution to 1.7 nm/pixel, illuminance accuracy of ±2%, and color temperature accuracy of ±25k at 2856k and 6500k.
