The thermal imaging FingerChip sensor is fabricated on a 1.5 ¥ 14-mm silicon chip. Direct finger contact with the chip produces an 8-bit, 500-dpi image based solely on heat. Software support is based on Cogent System`s Bio-Signature algorithms, which facilitates interfacing to small computer networks for fingerprint identification.
