SANTA CLARA, CA-The inaugural Intelligent Vision `99 Technical Conference held at the Santa Clara Marriott Hotel, June 28 and 29 was cosponsored by Vision Systems Design and Image Processing Europe, both PennWell publications. It highlighted advanced and emerging vision technologies in the related areas of cameras; image capture, processing, and display; and software. Nearly a dozen tabletop exhibits complemented the conference with new-product demonstrations.

Futuristic vision technologies are expected to make existing and new vision-based industrial, medical, and scientific systems easier to use and to develop by the infusion of higher levels of hardware and software "competence" or intelligence. This was described in talks given by a group of international experts and experienced industry speakers that included company presidents and vice presidents, chief technology officers and scientists, and technology directors and managers.
