MVTec has released its 2015 schedule for their "Introduction to Developing Applications with HALCON" training sessions, which will be held in Cambridge, MA, USA.

The two-day course offers hands-on technical training to new or potential users of the HALCON machine vision software. This year’s classes will be held on the following dates:

  • February 24-25
  • May 19-20
  • August 25-26
  • November 17-18

MVTec recently launched its HALCON 12 machine vision software, which includes new features like the "automatic text reader"OCR function, which can handle variations in character features and can both detect and recognize characters in a single operation. Another new feature of the software is a set of improvements for MLP classifier, as well as an enhanced interface programming environment, HDevelop, including support for event-based processing. HALCON 12 will also feature faster speeds, as it will utilize multi-core processors SSE2 and AVX, as well as GPU acceleration and AVX2, which will enable faster running times on state-of-the-art processors.

Also worthy of note here is that MVTec also recently launched anonline user’s forum for North American users of HALCON. Users of the machine vision software can share expertise and ideas related to vision applications, while establishing a knowledge base where people can find tips and information on how to address specific application needs and questions.
