AUGUST 21--Cedara Software Corp. (Toronto, Canada; www.cedara.com) has introduced Cedara I-Acquire 1.1--its first universal software application in which multiple digital detectors, CR (computed radiography) scanners, and x-ray generators can be integrated into a powerful acquisition console and/or quality-assurance station. Unifying all these modalities within one consistent user interface improves ease of use and productivity for busy technologists. This solution gives OEMs and system integrators the freedom to choose and quickly package detectors, scanners, and generators from different vendors into an assortment of tailored solutions, thereby addressing a broader range of clinical applications with less effort and faster time to market.

"Cedara I-Acquire is an integral member of the Cedara I-Suite product family for PACS and IT solutions," says Arun Menawat, president and COO of Cedara. "This family includes Cedara I-SoftView, which is a successful range of clinically reliable, protocol-driven PACS workstations. Cedara I-SoftView has been installed more than 5000 times worldwide, providing us with experience in digitization and DICOM connectivity. This experience has allowed us to quickly develop a CR Console product replete with workflow features such as single media archiving; DICOM modality worklist, GSPSS, and printing; and advanced diagnostic tools."
