Photon Dynamics RTI version 4.9 software improves yield-management capabilities

SEPTEMBER 25--Photon Dynamics Inc. (San Jose, CA; www.photondynamics.com), a provider of integrated yield-management solutions for the display, electronics, and glass markets, has introduced RTI 4.9--a newly enhanced software package for the SV-7550 automated optical inspection system and the SVX-2000 automated optical and x-ray inspection system. The software includes a host of intelligent features designed to provide printed-circuit-board assembly manufacturers with increased performance and continued yield improvements.

Compared to Photon Dynamics' prior software versions, RTI 4.9 now provides the highest defect coverage with the lowest false calls using advanced, intelligent algorithms, and an autoretest option. These recent modifications can provide enhanced productivity improvements, such as up to a 50% reduction in setup time, up to 15% less false calls, and up to a 10% reduction of inspection cycle time. New features include inspection parameter traceability, improved CAD import, and an extensive image package library. Other advancements include optical character recognition, resistor color band confirmation, and gap measurement inspection, as well as the ability to link multiple algorithms to a component or pad for intelligent inspection. Existing algorithms were updated to include versatile object matching and graphical inspection parameter statistics.

RTI 4.9 is compatible with Photon Dynamics existing product options, including offline programming stations, review stations, multiple barcode readers, and real-time, web-based SPC analysis. Further productivity enhancements can be achieved by using the shared programming library that allows for portability of programs across multiple manufacturing lines.
