SEPTEMBER 10--Imagis Technologies Inc. (Vancouver, Canada; www.imagistechnologies.com), a developer of biometric systems using advanced facial- and image-recognition technology, has released Version 9.0 of its ID-2000 and ID-2000 SDK face- and image-recognition software. ID-2000 is Imagis' flagship software solution used currently in all facets of law enforcement, airport security, access control, and other government and private-sector identification and security initiatives.
ID-2000 uses a combination of spectral analysis and 3-D modeling to locate and fit a face. Once a face has been identified, it is converted into a deformable surface model--taking into account the values of yaw, pitch, and roll of the head and re-rendered using various light sources. Once a face has been captured and rendered, the software uses a proprietary algorithm to produce a wavelet that is unique to that particular image.
Imagis' technique provides intrinsic accuracy and performance that can consistently be refined and enhanced. Version 9.0 of ID-2000 has leveraged this technology to obtain, according to internal benchmarking, a nearly 30% increase in search accuracy. Imagis can currently achieve search performances of 20 million records per minute and is suitable for easy integration with both large and small data sources. This provides Imagis' partners and customers with an improved ability to identify any known individual, offender, or suspect.
Imagis' face- and image-recognition software is available as a software-development kit for those business partners, OEMs, contractors, and integrators looking to develop new applications or to integrate the technology within an existing solution.
