(Vancouver, Canada; www.imagistechnologies.com), a developer of law-enforcement software and biometric systems using advanced facial- and image-recognition technology, announced that the Police Department of Placentia, CA, is now fully operational using Imagis' ID-2000 biometric face-recognition software in conjunction with Imagis' Computerized Arrest and Booking System (CABS). The Placentia Police Department is the fourth law-enforcement agency in Orange County to successfully deploy Imagis' software.
ID-2000 is an advanced software system that uses biometric face-recognition to identify an individual using only a facial photo, video, or artist's composite drawing. Used in conjunction with Imagis' CABS, the Placentia Police Department has improved its ability to identify offenders while streamlining its internal administrative processes. This makes the agency more efficient in its day-to-day duties, including: saving time and money booking an offender, generating digital lineups of suspects in minutes, increasing the speed by which a suspect or offender is identified, and accessing all offense-related data from one easy-to-use system.
In addition to its benefits to law enforcement and other public safety agencies, Imagis' ID-2000 face recognition technology has already been deployed or is applicable to airport security, access control, driver's licenses and passports, homeland defense, and other identification and security initiatives.
