APRIL 23--Toshiba America Medical Systems (Tustin, CA) has signed a three-year agreement to provide computed-tomography (CT), general x-ray, MRI, nuclear-medicine, ultrasound, and vascular x-ray systems to MAGNET Inc., a New York not-for-profit group purchasing organization that specializes in capital equipment. It is comprised of seven regional group purchasing organizations comprised of 12,000 members in 20 states. The contract also allows members to access Toshiba's Healthcare Technology Solutions offerings that include multivendor service and asset management.

Under the contract, MAGNET member organizations and their participating health-care facilities may purchase systems and services at negotiated group discount prices from Toshiba's full line of products. Said Derwood Dunbar, president and CEO, MAGNET, "Our members now have access to the world's most powerful CT, the industry's quietest high-field MR, and all-digital, user-friendly premium and premium compact ultrasound systems."

MAGNET also has signed a contract with Toshiba America Business Solutions for LCD projectors, document-output devices (fax machines, copiers, scanners and printers), computers and document-management software, and enterprise solutions. These products will be available to the MAGNET facilities through online purchase, an 800 number, and existing dealer relationships.
