Due to a merger, Hitachi Scientific Instruments (Finchampstead, Workingham, Berkshire, UK; www.his-europe.com) has renamed Nissei Sangyo Co. Ltd. as Hitachi High-Technologies Corp. The new company comprises five sales divisions: scientific instruments, electronic components, materials, factory automation, and medical equipment.

DVT Corp. (Norcross, GA, USA; www.dvtsensors.com), a global supplier of machine-vision sensor products, has opened a sales office in Milton Keynes, UK. The company also named Philippe Berger as director of European business development.

Art Systems Ltd. (Beeston, Nottingham NG9 2EU, UK; www.artsystems.ltd.uk) has been appointed as a mainstream distributor for Hitachi monitors and displays (Westwood, MA, USA; www.hitachidisplay.com).

Keithley Instruments Inc. (Cleveland, OH, USA; www.keithley.com), a global supplier of test-and-measurement instruments, has opened branch offices near Helsinki, Finland and in Stockholm, Sweden.

DataCell Ltd. (Finchampstead, Berks, UK; www.datacell.co.uk), a value-added reseller and provider of imaging products, has named Ben Privett as industrial business manager and Shaun F. Saber as sales manager for North America (Boston, MA, USA).

Stemmer Imaging GmbH (Puchheim, Germany; www.stemmer-imaging.de) has promoted vice president of sales and marketing Christof Zollitsch to chief technology officer.

Syncroscopy (Cambridge, UK; www.syncroscopy.com), a supplier of digital imaging systems for microscopy applications, has appointed Martin Smith in charge of International Dealer Support.

Digital Healthcare (Coton, Cambridge, UK; www.digital-healthcare.com), a developer of imaging platforms for clinical and medical sciences, has named Mark D. Hillhouse as sales director.

It retains the existing staff, and previous divisional manager, Richard White, is now managing director. Two of the founders and board members of LightLab Imaging LLC (Westford, MA, USA; www.lightlabimaging.com), James G. Fujimoto and Eric A.
