MAY 28--National Instruments (NI; Austin, TX; ni.com/vision) has announced version 6.1 of its Vision Development software, which engineers and scientists can use to create embedded vision systems for greater reliability in applications such as automated inspection and alignment in manufacturing. Together with LabVIEW Real-Time, this new version brings embedded vision capabilities to the National Instruments real-time PXI/CompactPCI platform.

The NI Vision 6.1 Development Module is a bundle of vision software consisting of IMAQ Vision 6.1 and IMAQ Vision Builder 6.1. With this new module, engineers and scientists can quickly prototype vision applications, generate LabVIEW programs on a host computer, and deploy these applications on the real-time PXI platform. With PXI, engineers and scientists can take advantage of advanced timing features and synchronize imaging devices with NI data-acquisition and motion-control hardware.

The Vision Development Module includes IMAQ Vision Builder and IMAQ Vision, which work together to simplify vision software development. IMAQ Vision Builder is an interactive environment that quickly prototypes and benchmarks vision applications without programming. IMAQ Vision is a library of more than 300 machine vision and scientific imaging functions. The National Instruments IMAQ product line features easy-to-use software and hardware that creates a complete measurement and automation solution.

NI LabVIEW Real-Time expands the LabVIEW development environment to create real-time embedded systems with intelligent NI measurement devices, including processor-based plug-in boards, PXI controllers, and the FieldPoint 2000 Family of network modules. With LabVIEW Real-Time, engineers have the power to develop real-time solutions with Industry-standard software and industry-proven hardware. In addition, engineers familiar with LabVIEW can immediately begin developing real-time measurement and automation applications with LabVIEW Real-Time.
