From May 2-4 in Santa Clara, CA, USA, more than 1,000 engineers, business leaders, investors, and entrepreneurs are expected to gather at the Embedded Vision Summit to discuss the latest in embedded vision technology, including deployable computer vision and deep learning.

"Computer vision has escaped the research halls and is marching into the mainstream," states the Embedded Vision Alliance website. Indeed it has, and this three-day summit is set to highlight the latest technologies, trends, and products. Features of the show will include:

    • Deep Learning Day, a day focus on convolutional neural networks with a hands-on Caffe tutorial
    • A day of sessions on embedded vision techniques, technologies, and opportunities
    • A day of workshops to explore enabling technologies in depth
    • The Vision Technology Showcase, where you’ll see dozens of demos of the latest vision processors, tools, software and applications, and hear presentations on these products from experienced applications engineers
    • The Vision Tank, a new competition for start-ups in which companies can pitch an idea to investors and win $5,000

Additionally, the show will feature three tracks—the Technical Insights Track, the Business Insights Track, and the Enabling Technologies track—which offers attendees the chances to find the topics and speakers that suit them best. The Summit will also feature the following keynote presentations:

    • Using Vision to Enable Autonomous Land, Sea, and Air Vehicles: Larry Matthies, Senior Scientist, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory
    • Large-Scale Deep Learning for Building Intelligent Computer Systems: Jeff Dean, Google Senior Fellow, Google Research
    • The State of Computer Vision: Jeff Bier, President, BDTI, and Founder, Embedded Vision Alliance

"Improvements in enabling technologies are making it possible to use computer vision to deliver valuable capabilities in many new applications, such as automobiles, homes and stores," said Jeff Bier, founder of the Embedded Vision Alliance. "The Embedded Vision Summit is dedicated to enabling developers and business leaders to build amazing new products incorporating visual intelligence."
