MARCH 25--Cognex Corp. (Natick. MA;www.cognex.com), a supplier of machine-vision systems, has shipped its 300th SmartView web-inspection system. The SmartView system is a web-inspection system that automatically detects, identifies, and visualizes defects in materials as they are being produced at high speeds. The system makes it possible for manufacturers to reduce waste and downtime on their production lines by detecting defects early in the manufacturing process, thereby enabling operators to take corrective action and eliminate defective material before it is sent to customers.
"The SmartView system is a robust and flexible system platform that, together with industry-specific application software, can be used to serve the needs of customers in many different industries," said Markku Jaaskelainen, senior vice president and general manager of Cognex's Surface Inspection Systems Division.
