Kodak's Sensor Studio to ship with its CMOS sensor-evaluation boards

SEPTEMBER 5--Eastman Kodak Company (Rochester, NY; www.kodak.com) is now offering a powerful and flexible software package to complement its family of complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) image sensors. Sensor Studio will be shipped with the purchase of a Kodak CMOS image-sensor-evaluation board. This menu-driven software, in conjunction with the evaluation board, I2C adapter, and frame grabber, allows the customer to immediately acquire images and begin their sensor evaluation and analysis.

Prior to Sensor Studio, multiple third-party software programs were needed--one for communication, one for image acquisition, one for color processing, and one for image analysis. Sensor Studio integrates all of these functions, saving product development time and money. Features include the ability to communicate with the image sensor to change integration time, gain, and other imager register settings and the ability to save images as bitmaps, 16-bit PNG files, 8-bit PNG files, JPEGs, or RAW image files.

Sensor Studio supports both the KAC-0311 VGA and the KAC-1310 megapixel CMOS imagers--both highly integrated sensors featuring on-chip timing, programming control, analog signal processing, and 10-bit analog-to-digital converters. The KAC-0311 is a 640 x 480-pixel array in a 1/3-in. optical format using a 7.8-mm pinned photodiode. It incorporates Kodak's patented global shutter technology. The KAC-1310 is a 1.3-Mpixel (1280 x 1024) CMOS sensor in a 1/2-in. optical format with 6.0-mm pixels.
