DECEMBER 12--Adept Technology Inc. (San Jose, CA; www.adept.com), a manufacturer of flexible automation for the telecommunications, fiberoptics, and semiconductor industries, announced that Infotech AG (Solothurn, Switzerland; www.infotech-automation.com) will be using its HexSight machine-vision software for its high-performance PCB rework systems. HexSight machine-vision software provides tools for machine guidance and parts inspection. It is an open system product that runs on a PC and uses off-the-shelf cameras and frame grabbers. Because it provides rapid application evaluation development, this stand-alone solution lets OEMs add high-performance vision at a reasonable cost.

HexSight software rapidly and accurately locates objects based on their geometric features. Its locator tool uses the most advanced feature detection technology to identify objects and patterns based on their geometric characteristics. This results in outstanding robustness to clutter, lighting variations, image degradations, and occlusions.
