San Bernardino County adopts ImageWare face-ID software
OCTOBER 3--ImageWare Systems Inc. (www.iwsinc.com) has been selected by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department in California to provide its Crime Capture System (CCS), a digital booking system, and Face ID, a fully integrated facial-recognition software product that utilizes FaceIt technology from Visionics Corp. (Jersey City, NJ, and Minnetonka, MN; www.visionics.com). Gary Penrod, Sheriff of San Bernardino County, said, "These systems will revolutionize the way our department uses information and technology to identify offenders and reduce crime. We are pleased to be working with ImageWare and their technology provider, Visionics, in procuring a fully integrated digital booking and facial-recognition solution."
CCS is an automated, digital booking application that allows law-enforcement agencies to efficiently capture, store, organize, and manage digital images and demographic data. The integrated Face ID software allows users to import photo images from new or external sources and conduct searches against the known photo-image database to produce an array of possible matches in ranked order.
"This integrated system will allow the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department to search through its database of images and text in seconds for possible suspect matches," said Jim Miller, chairman and chief executive officer of ImageWare Systems. "It is designed to capture, store, and retrieve digital images of suspects and related information and also includes Visionics' facial-recognition technology. The system will also seamlessly integrate with the County's existing fingerprint and jail-management systems, eliminating the need for duplicate data entry."
