PRESS RELEASE

Radiant Imaging Releases New Version of ProSource Software for Light Source Modeling
ProSource 8.0 delivers an improved user interface and expanded analysis capabilities for Radiant Source Model analysis and ray generation

(Duvall, WA - 24 July 2008) Radiant Imaging, the worldwide leader in imaging systems for color and light measurement, has releaseed ProSource 8.0, the newest version of its software for light source near-field data analysis and ray generation . ProSource 8.0 provides simpler, more intuitive program navigation, enhanced graphics, and improved ray generation from Radiant Source Model data files. ProSource 8.0 is intended for use by light source and lighting system designers and developers, and applies to all light sources including emerging LED applications.

ProSource 8.0 includes improvements to nearly all areas of the software. First, ProSource 8.0 provides an intuitive interface to allow the user to view, manipulate, and process Radiant Source Model (RSM) data files more simply and faster than in previous versions. RSM data files are industry standard representations of near-field measurements of light sources comprised of thousands of detailed images of a light source. RSMs are generated by measuring a light source on Source Imaging Goniometric systems such as Radiant Imaging's SIG-300 and SIG-400. A new user interface and graphics allows users to more rapidly access and analyze RSM information, resulting in both time savings and deeper understanding of light source performance. In addition, window docking and tabbing enable much easier organization of the different data representations and operations that result during a typical ProSource session.

Second, ProSource 8.0 generates ray data that accurately represent the output of the light source and which can be exported for use with all popular optical and illumination system design software packages. Users can control the number of rays generated, angular range of the rays, total luminous flux of the ray set, and ray origin. In addition, color RSM models can be directly analyzed in ProSource and the program has the ability to generate a full color ray set data for export, providing significant advantages to optical designers in accurate modeling of lighting systems. Color models are especially important for emerging LED lighting and display applications.

New features of ProSource 8.0 include:
1. Expanded data format compatibility: ProSource 8.0 can directly open and generate rays for any RSM, PSD, MDB, RS7, or RS8 Radiant Source Model.
2. New bitmap plotting tool: The bitmap display of source images has been enhanced with a simplified toolbar and more display options.
3. New cross- section tool: This new plot can be used to display any quantity derived from the data, such as source luminous intensity or color coordinates.
4. Improved histogram tool: All measured and calculated quantities can also be displayed as histograms, with a variety of plotting options.
5. New 2-D and 3-D iso plots: This option enables false color plots of source parameters with numerous options.
6. CIE color charts: Source color information can be plotted with customizable gamuts, and a color list chart gives the scatter plot of all average color values on the CIE color chart.
7. Ray generation: Both photopic and color ray sets (RGB) are now supported, and the number of rays that can be generated is limited only by disk space.

"ProSource and Radiant Source Models are already well established as the most accurate way of representing real light sources for optical design purposes," states Hubert Kostal, Radiant Imaging Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "ProSource 8.0 adds significant analysis functionality and is easier to use. Users will realize both improved efficiency and increased accuracy in optical design applications."

Free upgrades to ProSource 8.0 are available to users that purchased ProSource after 1 January 2008, and discounted upgrades are available from some previous releases. To learn more about ProSource 8.0 and Radiant Source Models, interested parties should contact [email protected].
