OCTOBER 20, 2008--New tutorials have been posted in theVision Systems Design video library. These videos were made during National Instruments' NIWeek 08, held August 4-7, in Austin, TX.

Thetutorials are:

Advanced Optics -- Greg Hollows, director of machine vision at Edmund Optics, describes advanced optics for machine vision, including the effects of optics on different types of sensors, optics needed for different types of applications, and demonstrations of advanced machine-vision tactics.

Multicore Vision -- With the emergence of multicore technologies and the increasing trend to parallelism in computer applications, software developers are rethinking their problem-solving approach to take advantage of these new platforms. Carlos Guzman, software group manager at National Instruments shows why computer vision applications are no exception.

Advanced Imaging Preprocessing -- Using examples, Dinesh Nair, principal architect at National Instruments discusses preprocessing techniques for making images better in machine-vision inspections. He explains how to improve the visibility of features in an image; correct errors that result from illumination, optics, or object characteristics; and compensate for other defects that arise during the image-digitization process.
