OCTOBER 27, 2008--With Matrox Design Assistant 2.0, users can create flowcharts of their applications with steps for image processing, blob analysis, pattern recognition based on normalized grayscale correlation, and reading character strings. Version 2.0 now also supports both Ethernet/IP and Modbus over TCP/IP to interact with PLCs and other process automation equipment. It also includes an SDK for adding specific custom functionality. The development environment is fully self-contained for both application development and deployment; an integrated HTML editor and layout tool enable creation of a custom web-based operator view for monitoring the application.

PRESS RELEASE

New release of Matrox Imaging Library operates at full throttle

June 10, 2008, Dorval, Quebec - Matrox Imaging has announced the release of MIL 9.0. This is the latest version of the Matrox Imaging Library, the field-proven application development toolkit for image analysis, machine vision and medical imaging. "MIL 9.0 has been tailored to meet the demands of high-throughput, processing-intensive applications," explains Pierantonio Boriero, Product Line Manager, Matrox Imaging.

MIL 9.0 can take advantage of today's extremely high-performance graphics processor units (GPUs) and high-performance computing (HPC) clusters. This means, for example, that a MIL application can be distributed across several computers over a network, be controlled remotely or in a master-slave configuration. To help reduce the load on the host CPU, MIL 9.0 can now offload image processing functions (primitives such as arithmetic, geometric transforms, filters, and morphology), to a GPU. Finally, MIL 9.0 includes support for Windows Vista and 64-bit operating systems.

As an add-on, MIL 9.0's Processing Pack 1 (PP1) features multi-core and multi-CPU speed optimizations, a color analysis tool, a 3D reconstruction tool and verification of 1D/2D codes using ISO/IEC standards.

The Matrox Imaging Library 9.0 will be available in Q3 2008. MIL 9.0 PP1 will be available to MIL 9.0 users as part of the MIL maintenance program in Q4 2008.

About the Matrox Imaging Library

Matrox Imaging Library (MIL) is a comprehensive collection of optimized software tools for developing industrial imaging applications that run on 32-bit and 64-bit Windows and Linux. The toolkit features interactive software and programming functions for performing image capture, processing, analysis, annotation, display and archiving. These tools are designed to enhance productivity thereby reducing the time and effort required to bring your solution to market.

First released in 1993, MIL's easy-to-use coherent application programming interface (API) has stood the test of time. MIL pioneered the concept of hardware independence with the same API for different image acquisition and processing platforms.
