Point Grey has announced the launch of the two-port GIGE-PCIE2-2P02 network interface card, which is compatible with Point Grey Ethernet and GigE cameras, as well as third-party devices. Each port in the network interface card provides up to 15.4 watts of power and has a dedicated Intel 82574L Gigabit Ethernet Controller that supports jumbo packets and maximum GigE bandwidth of 120 MByte/s. Combined bandwidth of 240 MByte/s is enabled using the card’s PCI Express Gen2 x1 interface, the most commonly available on modern PC motherboards. In addition, Point Grey’s FlyCapture software development kit includes a low-level GigE image filter driver that can be installed on the card which can be used to reduce GigE packet load on the CPU by filtering out GigE Vision stream protocol packets.
