Whereas 32-bit systems are limited to 4 Gbytes of RAM, a 64-bit system can support virtually unlimited amounts of RAM. All elements of the solution, including iPORT IP Engines, eBUS drivers, SDKs, and other software tools, work together to support GigE-based, camera-to-PC connections. Version 3.0.0 adds support for several Linux distributions, including Red Hat Enterprise and OpenSuse.

With Version 3.0.0 of the iPORT Vision Suite for Linux, Pleora's iPORT SDK now allows Linux-based GigE imaging solutions to run on ultra-wide 64-bit architectures, effectively doubling the level of processing power available to Linux developers. Linux - an open-source development platform known for its security, reliability, and low cost - is the operating system of choice among many developers in the medical and military imaging sectors.

Image acquisition systems based on 64-bit system architectures can accommodate more cameras and additional image processing requirements by overcoming limitations of traditional 32-bit architectures.
