DECEMBER 21, 2009--Compact camat S48 Multi-Head remote sensor heads integrate precision optics, homogeneous LED lighting, and high-resolution imaging sensors. Captured image data are transferred to the controller and evaluated. Sensor heads measure 27.5 x 30 x 30 mm; combined with the weight of 80 g, they can be incorporated in constricted spaces and mounted in the process environment. The IP67 housing is suitable for industrial applications and ensures operational reliability and a long lifetime under difficult operating conditions.

PRESS RELEASE
camat S48 Multi-Head vision sensor
New sensor architecture and new possibilities for use
The image processing specialist Vision & Control has extended the vision sensor platform camat to include the new generation of vision sensors, camat S48 Multi-Head. The vision sensors can be configured, for the first time, with up to four remote sensor heads, and convince with their small dimensions and low weight, opening up new possibilities for use in industrial image processing. The compact sensor heads already integrate precision optics, powerful homogeneous LED lighting as well as high-resolution imaging sensors. The captured image data are transferred to the controller, the heart of the vision sensor, and evaluated. Fast mounting of the sensor heads, weighing only 80 grams, in confined spaces as well as the intuitive "Step-by-Step" user guidance ensures that the user can quickly implement the inspection tasks to be solved.
With the camat S48 Multi-Head vision sensor, Vision & Control underlines its leading position in the development of innovative image processing components for process automation and, in particular, for robotic applications. The concept of the vision sensor with remote sensor heads, intuitive "Step-by-Step" user guidance and fast parameterising via Auto-Teach-In functions enables users to integrate the vision sensor optimally in the image processing system and, in a short time, to solve their applications.
The "All-in-One" design of the camat vision sensor generation represents optimal integration of the individual modules from precision optics, powerful and homogenous LED lighting, fast image acquisition and processing electronics, as well as a reliable communication interface to production process. This flexible hardware and software concept makes it possible to react individually to the needs of OEM customers and allows modifications to the high-performance camat platform to suit the specific requirements. The image data generated from high-resolution image sensors are transferred to the controller via a flexible cable, which is suitable for use in a drag chain. The high-performance software vcwin ensures that a wide range of criteria can be verified, such as presence, position, location or completeness. The digital high-speed signal processor determines the inspection results, in real-time; these are exchanged with the production process via the on-board input and output signals.
The camat S48 Multi-Head sensor heads measure only 27.5mm x 30mm x 30mm and, with the low weight of 80 grams, can be used easily in the most constricted spaces and mounted in the process environment. The IP67 housing is suitable for industrial applications and ensures operational reliability and a long life time even under difficult operating conditions.
