PRESS RELEASE

Programmable PCIe Frame Grabber with four Gigabit Ethernet Ports

SILICONSOFTWARE introduces a new frame grabber of the successful microEnable IV series at VISION 2008. It is based on PCI Express technology with quad-lane interface(x4) and supports up to four GigabitEthernet camera inputs.

microEnable IV-GigE supports GigE Vision and GeniCam standards.

The frame grabber is equipped with a separate FPGA vision processor, which can be used for a hardware based image processing in real time. The processor can be programmed with the graphical programming tool VisualApplets. Hereby the frame grabber can be adapted to individual requirements, i.e. from programming of the trigger interface, over various methods of synchronisation of the camera or images enhancements to a complete implementation of pre-processing steps in applications.

For a reliable image acquisition and transfer, microEnable IV-GigE is equipped with 512 MB onboard DDR-RAM and is delivered with optimized drivers for the use of up to four cameras with a cable length of 100 meters.

It is the first time that GigabitEthernet cameras can seriously be used in multi-camera applications. Even applications with advanced requirements or need of online analyses can be realized now. microEnable IV-GigE can easily be configured. The onboard FPGA vision processor can intuitively programmed by VisualApplets.

Silicon Software GmbH, located in Mannheim/Germany, is a manufacturer of intelligent pre-processing solutions based on reprogrammable FPGA technology for machine vision applications.
