DECEMBER 20--Matrox Imaging (Dorval, QC, Canada; www.matrox.com/imaging) has appointed CRI Jolanta (Gliwice, Poland; www.crijolanta.com.pl) as its official distributor in Poland. CRI Jolanta will be selling Matrox Imaging's complete line of hardware and software components for industrial and scientific imaging applications.

Jan Friedrich, UK territory manager for Matrox Imaging, says, "Poland's transition from a post-Soviet economy to a free market economy stands out as one of the region's most successful business stories. Maintaining a local presence in Poland is therefore a logical step, especially since machine vision use continues to increase on a global scale. We are convinced that a synergy between Matrox Imaging's product offerings and support and CRI Jolanta's technical sales expertise will prove to be a great asset to this fledgling market."

President of CRI Jolanta, Artur Gan, agrees, "Poland's membership in the European Union has brought many economic benefits, including strengthening the economy and an imminent technological boom. Many Polish companies are ready to modernize production facilities, so we expect the market to react favorably to the benefits and long-term cost savings that machine vision can bring."

Founded in 1990, CRI Jolanta was the first company in Poland to sell imaging hardware and software. Today it offers a complete lineup of machine-vision components including imaging hardware and software, data-acquisition hardware and software, cameras, lenses, and lighting and positioning systems. CRI Jolanta develops computer-based systems for industrial and research applications and offers system-integration services.
