MARCH 7--A large food-production company in the Fortune 500 has purchased a number of DIPIX Technologies (Ottawa, Canada) automated tortilla-inspection systems in a contract worth more than US$ 600K. DIPIX has now completed more than 200 installations of its systems with global manufactured-food companies. This represents significant year-over-year growth and includes customers such as McDonald's, Mission Foods, Sara Lee, and Weston's. The manufacturer will be using DIPIX T60 wide lane inspection and rejection systems to inspect tortilla production at numerous multilane plants.

DIPIX is a leader in the design and implementation of automated inspection solutions for processed foods, including baked goods, snacks, confections, tortillas, cookies, and biscuits. The company combines its knowledge of machine vision, image analysis, and material handling to ensure that every food product is identified, analyzed, and, if necessary, individually removed from the product stream. The technology is bringing the manufactured food industry into line with other large-scale manufacturing where automation is used to enhance quality, improve productivity, and ultimately increase profits.

DIPIX equipment inspects, sorts, and aligns food products on a very large scale. Full product inspection includes top and bottom color, 3-D shape, and size. The equipment can be customized to manage automatic rejection of defects based on specific criteria. It can also assist with aligning the product for packaging.
