JULY 16--The Institute for Forensic Imaging (IFI; Indianapolis, IN) and Imagine Products Inc. have signed an agreement to develop a turnkey video-enhancement system specifically for law-enforcement agencies. "Law enforcement personnel need to be able to capture and enhance video imagery from surveillance cameras," explains Herb Blitzer, executive director of IFI."There are a few products currently available, but they are generally too expensive and provide extra video editing features that this market does not need."
IFI has developed technologies to address the specific needs of law-enforcement agencies. The software modules have been used successfully in classroom training and currently have patent pending status. The organization has aligned with Imagine Products to bring the technology to market. Imagine Products brings 13 years of video software experience to the partnership and will develop the interface and other user-oriented features.
"Our company focus is on digital video," said Dan Montgomery, president of Imagine Products. "We have the expertise to transform the IFI software modules into a highly-functional, easy to use, mass market product offering for law enforcement agencies."
The Institute for Forensic Imaging is dedicated to using research, consulting and training to expand and enhance the use of imaging in law enforcement and judicial proceedings. For more information, seewww.ifi-indy.org.
