MAY 28--Image Processing and Optical Technology (IPOT) has announced a new partnership with Photonics Cluster (UK), who will hold a series of free seminars at the NEC show in February 2005. IPOT, an established trade event, will be held at the Birmingham NEC on 16 & 17 February 2005 and will feature a wide range of products, including cameras, microscopes, scanners, and sensors; board/chips, computer enhancement, and frame grabbers; and image-compression hardware and software, imaging systems, and intensifiers.

Photonics Cluster (UK) is a business network dedicated to supporting the photonics industry in the UK. The overall aim of the cluster is to establish a dynamic hub of activity within the fully integrated supply chain of researchers, suppliers, manufacturers, and sales distributors operating freely for the increased profitability of the sector and increased knowledge to the individual members.

The cluster activities include securing, on behalf of its growing membership, corporate finance, research funding, and access to in-house research facilities with optoelectronics equipment in the areas of 3-D scanning, laser micromachining and processing, photometric analysis, surface measurement, high-speed photography using lasers, automated fiber alignment, and telecom component test-and-measurement equipment. Photonics Cluster (UK) is dedicated to supporting the optoelectronics industry by interacting with technology companies and users, as well as academic and research establishments.

The series of seminars is open to everyone and is an ideal forum for Photonics Cluster (UK) member clients to present their prospective technology areas to the wider business community and enhance their experience of the IPOT show.

IPOT will be collocated with six other shows at the NEC over the two days:-
Mtec - sensors, measurement, and instrumentation,
3C - contamination control and cleanroom products,
Machine Vision - the UK's leading vision event
EID - electronic information display,
Practical Vacuum - the exhibition for the vacuum industry,
Machine Building - machine building, automation, and design.
