FEBRUARY 13--LizardTech Inc. (Seattle, WA; www.lizardtech.com), a designer of software solutions that make it easier to manage, distribute, and access complex digital content such as aerial photography, satellite images, and color image documents, and Mapping Science, a developer of specialized image-compression tools for the GIS and remote-sensing community, have reached a settlement in LizardTech's on-going lawsuit for claims against Mapping Science for misappropriation of trade secrets. As part of the settlement agreement, Mapping Science will cease its operations and transfer all assets to LizardTech. LizardTech will assume responsibility for support and transition of Mapping Science's existing customers.

"We are glad that the on-going lawsuit with Mapping Science has been resolved without going to trial. LizardTech is committed to providing continued support to existing Mapping Science customers and providing a comprehensive upgrade path to LizardTech products in the near future," said Carlos Domingo, LizardTech chief executive officer. "LizardTech's vision is to make massive satellite imagery and aerial photography easy to manage and distribute and quickly accessible by those who rely on imagery for critical decisions involving everything from optimizing agriculture yields to national security."

"We are happy to have reached a lawsuit settlement that makes sense for both companies, said Walt Wiley, president of Mapping Science. "While we are sad to see Mapping Science cease its operations, we are confident that LizardTech's new management team will fully support our customers and partners during the transition period and beyond."

LizardTech expects the transition to be complete by February 18, 2004. For any inquires about Mapping Science products and related questions, call (206) 652-5211.
