Teledyne e2v and TowerJazz's new image sensor for ultra-high-resolution applications now available

June 24, 2019

The Emerald 67M image sensor, the result of a collaboration between Teledyne e2v and TowerJazz, features a 2.5 µm low-noise global shutter pixel on a 65 nm platform and was designed for ultra-high resolution electronics inspection, high-end surveillance, and microscopy.

The new sensor's "light pipe" technology, according to the manufacturers, enables more than 80 db shutter efficiency, noise levels of a single electron, and superb angular response. The Emerald 67M has a square shape with 8k resolution per side, which utilizes 95% of the image area, a feature designed to support gen 10.5 display manufacturing.

The Emerald 67M is available in 30 fps and 60 fps speeds. Like all sensors in the Emerald family, the new 67M model is compatible with 10 GigE, CoaXPress, Camera Link, and Camera Link HS interfaces, includes 120 db dynamic range, and the ability to capture multiple ROI under different exposure conditions.
