Color 3D camera designed for on-arm robot deployments

Nov. 10, 2020
A small footprint and low weight make the Zivid Two camera ideal for bin-picking and machine-tending applications.

The Zivid Two color 3D camera utilizes structured light to image at 2.3 MPixel resolution, at 13 exposures per 3D frame and a minimum acquisition time of 60 ms. It features a flexible working distance of 300 to 1500 mm, 60 µm resolution at 700 mm, 754 x 449 x 700 mm field of view, 169 x 56 x 122 mm footprint, 880 g weight, and 10 GigE interface.

According to the manufacturer, thermal and mechanical stability enhancements and floating calibration result in dimensional trueness error of less than 0.2%, while patented 3D HDR imaging and artifact reduction technology allow the camera to capture reflective and absorptive products and very small parts. The manufacturer also states that native color allows the camera to separate colored and similarly shaped SKUs.

The camera is designed to have minimal impact on robot maneuverability and payload in on-arm arrangements and is suitable for bin- and piece-picking and machine-tending applications.
